What you need to do is decide what you are going to sing and how you are going to do it. If you play an instrument or if you are going to use a Cd to sing with – either is really fine. You must choose something that is going to be appropriate for everyone to listen too without offending anyone with words that could offend others. (for example, no swear words in your music)

Walking around your town, find a corner or a street that is very busy during the day, as this is going to be the best spot for you to get started. After researching about what streets are busy, keep track of what times of the day are the busiest. You should plan to arrive on the street about half an hour to an hour before the busiest times. Play until you find the crowd thins out for the day. 

Keep your case or box close to your feet so others can easily drop money in but they can’t rob you at the same time. Be sure to use your manners and say Thanks to anyone who donates to your musical talents.

Another important thing is that you should find out if you need a permit from the city to play on the street, and if there are any types of street noise laws. Most cities do not have ordinances except after a certain hour or before dawn, which you wouldn’t be out singing anyway.  Permit fees, if your town has one, are usually just a few dollars.
