Shoveling snow

In areas of the world where you have a long and cold winter, removing snow from the drive way, from the side walks and from every where else that people need to walk is how you can make money.  This is a job, for just about anyone, that enjoys or loves to be outside in the winter air.

What do you need to do this job? You need to really like being outside and working with your hands. You will be moving snow that is in the way or harmful where people walk. You can work for a business, a homeowner or for a group of homeowners all at the same time. You need a shovel that fits your hands and your body size well in order to do the job right without hurting your back.

You can get customers by sending flyers out before the season starts, which is before the snow starts to fly. You can tell your customers that they don’t pay you unless it snows and you have to care for their sidewalks. Many local governments have rules and laws about sidewalks being cleared, so you can make money while helping out the business owner during the winter.

Elderly, pregnant and busy adults on the go are going to use your services so they don’t have to get out there and clean their drive ways or clean their sidewalks in order to get in and out of their homes. The elderly in particular are going to need your services most, but could be limited in funds, so you might want to offer a price break to these customers – besides they can be some of your most loyal customers!

You can make money after school or on the weekends, and on the school snow days – when school is cancelled; you know the snow is building up! Be sure to ‘do your job right’ and be there when you say you are going to be to keep your customers happy so they don’t hire another young adult that is offering the same services.
