As a shopping assistant, you will be getting items from other aisles that were forgotten. You could be in charge of holding the coupons in an orderly manner during the grocery trip.  You could be responsible for keeping an eye on the younger children during a shopping trip or you could be helping carry the groceries, carrying the umbrella, loading or unloading the cart and similar tasks.

You can advertise your services to parents that you know.  Pass out flyers or business cards that explain what you do. Be sure to give every one that you know more than one card or flyer so they can pass them to others that they know need services such as yours. You can stand outside a grocery store or mall and pass out flyers or cards about your services, but you should be ready to be put to work at any moment.

This is a job that you will be paid by tips instead of paycheck unless the business that you are working at offers you a position.  You might want to check with management if you feel there is a real need for this service in their store.

You should be a responsible person, able to help carry or lift items out of the cart and into the car. If you are asked to keep an eye on the child in the cart, do nothing else but take care of this child. Your job will be to keep strangers from this child and it is very important.  You should be polite, nice and courteous to anyone that you do help, even if they do not offer you a tip. Maybe they are out of money, but the next time they use your services you will receive twice as much!
