What you need to do is find a few local or online dealers so you can learn more about the type of trading cards that interest you the most. Once you have picked your topic, say for example, baseball cards, you can start your hobby, make contacts, and learn more about how to make money with in the one trading card market. If you were to focus on four different markets, like baseball, football, pokemon and garbage pail kids all at the same time, you won’t remember which are more valuable than the others and you risk losing money.

You can find cards cheap or almost free in yard sales, at flea markets, in pawnshops and other places around town where sales are going on. You can dig out cards from the attic, from your old toy boxes and ask for cards from relatives as a good way to stock up with out spending much to start with.

Using your listing of card dealers, you can take cards that are worth money to them and get cash. Maybe you will buy a card that is worth $100 but you bought it for ten dollars. You make a profit; cash and you can buy more cards to expand your business further.

Boxes and plastic containers that you can store your cards in will be needed to protect your investment in the cards that you are collecting. You don’t want to have a $400 card get wet and then be worth nothing!
