Fruit sales

Living on a farm, if you have a garden, or if you have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, you can take up selling them to others and make money. While this is a seasonal job in some areas, it can be a full time job in areas where tourists flock, where the weather is nice all the time and when you have access to your produce.

Try to keep your pricing just a bit lower than the grocery stores that are located in the same town, to give your customers a break and to make them feel as if they are really getting a good deal. Selling oranges, apples, pear or other types of fruits and vegetables by the box is really going to get your business going.

Where can you get your produce? You can ask your parents about where free fruits and vegetables can be gotten from, you can get fruits and vegetables from farms (or your own gardens) or you can buy in bulk once your business gets moving and sell it for a little profit.

Be sure to keep your fruits and vegetables on the cool side during the day and in storage, they will keep longer.

If you have to go to the orchard and pick fruits yourself, you need to be careful in climbing, and in how you handle them. Handle with care for less bruising and for fruits that will sell faster.

You can market yourself using flyers to passerby people so that they can remember where you are and they can come back when they need fruit. Often you can put a sign along a highway or road to get those who are traveling by to stop at your fruit stand. Check local regulations on this for sure. Always supply some type of bags or boxes so your customers can easily carry their fruits and vegetables after they purchase them from you!
