Sell at a local fair

If you have a special talent or creative side you can set up and sell at your local fair. You can expand this to fairs in the surrounding counties and make a few hundred dollars in just a matter of weeks!

What are some ‘things’ you can sell? If you are good at drawing or sketching you can sell things that you draw while you are sitting in the booth, or you can sell things you have done up over the winter months.

Other ideas include: key chains you make from beads, balloons, stuffed animals that you bought whole sale, anything you can buy and resell cheap, autographs of someone famous you can get in your booth, posters are always a great hit, small trinkets that keep children occupied, and you can sell tickets to win a bigger item if you would like. Use your imagination.

Other ideas include selling popcorn, cold sodas, sandwiches, ice cones, or ice pops. You can rent out bikes, wagons or other types of ‘get around’ little vehicles. You can even have a booth that takes photos that you ‘hand out’ on the spot after the photos are taken. You can make them funny or serious.

You will have to register a few weeks, and sometimes even a few months, before the event, and usually you have to pay a fee to sell at these types of events so be sure what you are going to sell is going to ‘cover’ your expenses.

You can advertise in local papers, or with flyers before the event if you are selling items that, people can take with them.  You want to be sure you are not selling something that is too big because people won’t want to carry ‘it’ around with them through the fair.
