Cleaning gutters

This job is meant only for the older teenagers that are responsible enough to climb a ladder and reach the gutters. Houses that are located near trees are often filling with leaves, pine needles and other ‘stuff’ that needs cleaned out in the spring and in the fall months. The ‘stuff’ in the gutters just clogs the gutters so water won’t flow through easily when it rains or snows.

Your job would be to climb up the ladder, using your hands or a tool and clean out the leaves in the gutter. You probably will need a bag to take the leaves and dump them somewhere else besides right in the front of the house.

You will be paid by the job, and you will need to let the homeowner know what your prices are before you get started. Making up your own pricing sheet that is based on how long the gutters are that you are cleaning out and how high the gutter are will always make sure that you are getting a far price on the job. Give this sheet, the flyer to homeowners that you are just meetings, that you know, or that you are going to work for before you start the job.

You can advertise your services by hanging flyers in local hardware stores, in laundry mats, using the classifieds in the newspaper, and even online local web sites that offer free classified service listings.

You can remind all of your customers in the spring and in the fall about your services by giving them a quick phone call or writing them a little reminder note. You can build this great business over your young adult years that will earn you money and responsibility at the same time!
